Your decision to find a therapist to talk to is not only brave but is the first step in your path to innovative living. It is important to find a therapist that is a good fit for your present situation.

I am a statistic and a part of the many and not the few! As a native Texan, I started this psychological journey as a poverty-stricken youth and teenage mother. After being the oldest of four siblings and coming from a strong lineage of women in the medical field, I was sure I could handle motherhood even in my teenage years. I could not have been further from wrong. After childbirth, I experienced sleepless nights, anxiety, irritability, and loss of my identity and feelings of purpose. I reported my concerns to my OBGYN and was prescribed medication to treat my symptoms. I was also referred to seek therapy. When I shared my experiences with my family, they convinced me to flush the medicine down the toilet and pray about it. So, I personally understand the struggle and cultural stigmas that may come with seeking help. However, life experiences have taught me that it's okay to admit that you're not okay.... It's okay to seek help from an expert.

Since then, I've earned a doctoral degree and used my life experiences to mold my career as a "next-generation" therapist. I am currently married with 3 sons and our dog named Dallas. During my journey, I've learned to accept some hurdles that life throws and encourage change in others by understanding that life is what WE CHOOSE IT TO BE. I now have 10+ years of professional experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.

I understand that emotional responses to problems and disappointments are a normal part of life. These emotions can include grief, anger, depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, coping with relationships, and negative thinking. Learning how to navigate your emotional responses to life's challenges is an integral part of self-sufficiency. Research has proven that there is NOT a one-fits-all approach to therapy, so I tailor my approaches based on the needs of each of you. Commonly used evidence-based approaches include Supportive Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness. During your path to innovative living, I will work with you to find your inner strength to develop the coping skills needed to overcome whatever challenges life may have presented to you.
